As nature’s paintbox treats us to its annual cavalcade of autumn colour with brilliant flashes of gold, orange and russet, it’s easy to immerse ourselves in the external events of the season. Not just the beauty as the trees lose their leaves, but the whirlwind that is this time of year and the build up to weeks of festivities in the form of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, and Christmas. Coupled with challenging worldwide events and our own personal journeys, the ‘baggage’ that we have lugged around all year can overwhelm us mentally and physically.
Which is why the cascading leaves are the perfect symbol to remind us that we need to take a metaphorical leaf out of the trees’ books…
We have just as deep a need to go inwards. Like trees losing their leaves, we too need to ‘hibernate’ to lose all the distractions and de-stress. Stripped down to bare branches, trees withdraw their energy, reflect and recharge. It’s (literally) second nature. And it provides a valuable lesson to us humans when it comes to going with the flow and embracing the Law of Cycles. Nature has put these patterns in place with the highest regard for all sentient beings so that we can live our best lives.
The winter is harsh and the trees would be no match for its weather conditions! Rather than battle it out or try to stand rigid in the face of the storm, they simply let go, knowing that all things come full circle and the warmer days will return. They gradually let go of their leaves, withdraw their life force energy from external appearances and use this time to send their root systems deeper into the ground, strengthening their foundation for the growth to come.
‘When things are beyond your control, withdraw and meditate” – a quote by Master Choa Kok Sui.
The Meditation on Twin Hearts is an opportunity for us to do the same, no matter what the season. Step back from distractions, go inwards and let go of worries, stress and other painful emotions, fill our bodies and minds with invigorating life force energy and experience inner stillness. Scheduling in our spiritual practice during the busiest weeks of the year enables us to enjoy the season – and our interactions with those around us – in peace and harmony. It also sets us up for the next season so that we are raring to go and achieve our goals, feeling lighter and happier, full of clarity, positivity and kindness.
The Institute of Pranic Healing UK and Ireland runs numerous Twin Hearts meditation sessions, both in person and online. For more details about these, simply click this link: https://pranichealing.co.uk/meditation/
